Yellow Rice Recipe

The vibrant yellow colour rice dish or peele chawal are not just visually appealing but very delicious too. It is commonly prepared as a lunch meal in many households and eaten with curd or any gravy dish.
Ingredients
- 2 cup Basmati Rice, rinsed and soaked for 30 minutes
- 8 cups Water
- 2 tsp Salt or according to taste
- ¾ tsp Cee Pee Haldi Powder
- 2 Cloves
- 3 Green cardamom
- 1 tsp Cee Pee Cinnamon Powder
- 2 tbsp cooking oil or Ghee
- ½ tsp Cee Pee Mustard seeds
- ½ tsp Cee Pee Jeera
- ¼ tsp Cee Pee Kashmiri lal mirch
- 1 medium sized Onion, chopped
- 3 cloves of Garlic, chopped
- ¼ cup coriander leaves, chopped
Method
- In a large pot, add 8 cups of water and salt and bring it to boil. Add rice and stir well.
- Add cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon and simmer for around 8-10 minutes.
- Check the rice after 8 minutes and keep it on flame until they are nice and fluffy. Not all water will be absorbed.
- Drain rice, rinse them with cold water and remove all the spices.
- In another large pan, heat oil on medium flame. Add mustard seeds, and cumin seeds and cook until mustard seeds start spluttering.
- Then add chopped onions and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until onion turns golden brown.
- Add garlic and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Now add chilli powder and mix well. Add rice and mix it again.
- Sprinkle turmeric powder over rice and mix well. Cook for about 3-4 minutes while stirring occasionally.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve fresh and hot.
